Halloween Princess Power

Today I was asked by my Comadre to attend and photograph my godchild's pre-school's Halloween parade. I was amazed at all of the different costumes in the parade. On the boys' side there were a majority of ninjas, super heroes and pirates. As for the girls' side, it was a "Princess World". The Disney corporation has really done its homework targeting its princesses to the young girls' market. There was Snow White, Cinderella, Mulan, Tinkerbell, Belle, and Ariel. [Business note to Disney: Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) and Pocahantas need better public relations agents.]

My god-daughter did a command performance and was Snow White for a second year in a row. According to her, it is pretty evident who's the best princess . Being Snow White consecutively did not seem to bother my Comadre in the pocketbook area either. She did, however, augment this year's costume with a new sparkling tiara, purse and shoes.

I couldn't resist posting this picture of my god-daughter walking hand-in-hand with her good friend. It seems to capture the sheer esscence of this joyous event.

Dare I dream that the Princess Power (in this photo) might someday have power to rule this world?

I hope to live long enough to see that dream come true.

Absolutely cute as can be! I will post a pic of Shorty as Dorothy from the "Wizard of Oz". (She wanted to be a Disney non-Princess, Alice, but they ran out of those costumes! Plenty of Pocahontas though...)
