U.S. Depleted Uranium & White Phosphorus Death

The mess continues in Iraq. It was bad enough that depleted uranium had been first used in Yugoslavia and in Gulf War I. Depleted uranium, DU, is radioactive waste that is applied to the tips of missiles that enables the missile to pierce a tank like a hot knife going through butter. To make matters worse, this DU dust contaminates all that touches it and keeps it fatally radioactive for 4.5 billion years.

Not only did it infect and create a nuclear bio-hazard for the Iraqi civilians, but it created it infected the US troops that came in contact with it. Thus were the reasons of the thousands of troops that were inflicted in Gulf War I with the mildly named Gulf War Syndrome. This was reason enough not to send any troops to the Gulf the second time around. Since this radioactive dust can be spread around indiscriminately and for an eon, this goes against the rules of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

If such atrocities are not bad enough, the U.S. is now using a new deadly weapon of mass destruction in Iraq.


The weapon is named White Phosphorus or WP. It is similar to napalm. The U.S. military leaders have stated that the weapon was only used as an illumination device to see where insurgents may exist. However, it was learned that by an Italian documentary that WP was being used as a chemical weapon not an illumination device. As usual, the U.S. initially denied any such actions, but today changed its position.

The effects of White Phosphorus are horrific. They burn victims to the bone. Gas masks are no use. Anywhere oxygen exists enables the WP to continue burning. The strange, gruesome photos of WP victims show only charred bones but the victim's clothing is undamaged. Only jumping into a mud pit and covering the body ceases the burning. However, by this time, the throat and lungs have been damaged beyond repair. Literally, it is a hell on earth. This too, is in violation of the rules of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

This is a weapon of mass destruction that is not selective. Civilian men, women and children indiscriminately are being murdered. Once again, the U.S. policy is saying one thing and doing another. It went after Saddam Hussein, even after the CIA stated that he had no connection to 9/11. This US administration changed its stance and stated that instead Hussein needed to be removed because he was harboring weapons of mass destruction. After two years of weapons inspections before the war and two plus years occupying Iraq, no weapons of mass destruction have been found. Even a joking Bush admitted that.

In only speak that Orwell could only imagine, it is the US that has almost ALL of the WMD in the world and continues to use them on a daily basis on defenseless Iraqi civilians. Depleted uranium and White Phosphorus are WMDs! These weapons hurt and kill the innocent indiscriminately. The US loses all credibility on the world stage when it talk about democracy and freedom when it uses these devious, sinister, evil weapons of mass destruction. These concerted actions demonstrates the US credibility as the world's only super power to shock all other non-compliant nations with its potential wrath by not submitting to the US wants and desires.
